Shadow Variations: Six Movements for Brass Quartet explores six shifting states through pressure, resonance and transformation. Sound gathers weight, expands, contracts and returns altered. Fragments pass between horn, trumpet, trombone and tuba, changing character as they move through different registers and densities. Repetition becomes transformation. Resonance becomes structure. Silence holds the pressure between gestures. The quartet functions as a single shifting body, moving between restraint and force, cohesion and fracture. Familiar material returns, but never in quite the same form. What remains is not a fixed theme, but its shadow: reshaped through each variation, carrying traces of everything that came before.
